About the Event
Volunteers will travel to the beaches of Galveston where they will tie recycled Christmas trees down on the dune line to combat dune erosion. By doing so, these trees will help to strengthen the dune line and protect against storm surge. Buses will leave at 7:15 a.m., so volunteers should be prepared to arrive at the front of the school before then. The bus should get back around 2:15 p.m., so plan rides accordingly. Volunteers should wear close-toed shoes and dress according to the weather. Sunscreen, sunglasses, and water are recommended but not required. Volunteers will also receive lunch before the bus ride back from the beach.
Additionally, we ask any willing parent chaperones to attend, as we are in dire need of chaperones. Volunteers whose parents will be chaperoning will receive an additional 3.5 hours for this event. If anyone's parents are willing to chaperone, please fill out this FORM
